New goals for your website!

Did you make any new goals for your website this year?  Wouldn't it be great to have your website bring you the business that you've been wanting.  Well 2011 is the year of conversion!  Get the responses that you've been wanting and needing from your online presence this year.

Here are a few questions you can ask yourself to see if your website is performing the way it should be.

Is my website trying to achieve a certain goal?
Does your website have a purpose this year or is it there just because?  Many people think that just having a website is enough.  We say there has to be a reason why you have a website.  A person who goes into a hardware store to buy a quarter inch bit doesn't need a quarter inch bit, what they need is a quarter inch whole.  So what is it that you need from your site for the new year?

Is there anyone coming to my site?
Can you see, accurately, how many people are going onto your website.  Many people think that by having a counter on the website it's a tool to measure traffic.  The only problem with counters is they aren't very accurate.  Get more traffic to your site this year!

What type of traffic am I attracting?
If you are generating traffic to your site, do you know where they are coming from or how they are finding you?  Getting traffic to your site is important, but getting quality traffic to your site is the key difference that will generate sales / leads.  You can be spending a lot of money trying to generate traffic and still not be getting results.  Don't waste your money this year, build quality traffic!

What are people doing when they go on my site?
Google analytics is completely free and it gives you detailed information on whose visiting your site, what pages they're browsing, how they got to the site and much more.  This detailed information will give you insight on the behavior of your visitors.  Knowing this information will help you make just evaluations to your online business plan for the new year.

Do I make changes to my site frequently?
You should be adjusting accordingly to the behavior of visitors on your website.  If you notice that no one is taking the actions that you want than it's time to make some changes.
